Hamilton Hawks U15A had the Privilege of Visiting the York Lion’s Dressing Room

York, Toronto - Feb 19, 2022 - The U15A Hamilton Hawks participated in the Brampton Cougars Friendship Festival this past weekend.

While playing their hearts out, our U15A team had some down time in between games. During this time, the girls were offered an amazing opportunity to visit York University’s very own York Lion’s Locker Room.

Dan Church, York Lion’s head coach since the 2004-05 season, toured the ladies around the room and spoke on behalf of the Lion’s history. The York Lions have won three OUA championships in their program while making one appearance in the U Sports women's ice hockey championship tournament. The Hawks were very fortunate to have the chance to ask coach Dan questions like “what do you look for in a player,” and “what grades do you need to maintain on the Lion’s team?”

The experience was eye-opening to the U15A girls as it has encouraged them to start looking for Secondary Education programs offering Women’s Ice Hockey, either in Canada or the USA.
